Maison Flore Paris

🖤 ONE OF A KIND 🖤

Previous Owner : Louisa
Year of Fabrication : Circa 1920
Origin : Toulouse, France

This beautiful treasure was waiting for us in a french Antiques shop. Highly sustainable, sensitive and solid, this collar has shown its high longevity since many years. We hope you will continue to pass it on to the next generations, just like antique trousseaux were passed on from mother to daughter.

Origin : Saint-Etienne, France

To create lovely and precious ties, we chose a high quality deadstock silk coming from a renowned french company founded in 1882.

The fibre is coming from China and then spun, weaved and dyed in Saint-Etienne. We are proud to upcycle this beautiful french savoir-faire, while we do not produce any new fabric at all. No need to waste energy and ressources to create new materials, we already have the best in hands !

We believe in a holistic approach regarding sustainability, mixing upcycling, thoughtful sourcing and french savoir-faire.

From bringing back to life left behind antique treasures by cleaning, restoring, dyeing and mending them, to virtuous conception processes as artisanal cutting out optimizing pattern sewing placement between holes and stains, in-house multi-size pattern creation avoiding any surstock, or recycling each fabric scrap to match a zero waste project, each step of fabrication is manufactured in France with care, common-sense and passion.

Cherry on the cake, all our treasures are manufacted with 100% Gots certified organic cotton weing thread.

We chose to use a solid and biodegradable natural fibre to sew our pieces in order to make as sustainable and planet friendly as possible.

The fibre is fully traceable, coming from Egypt and then spun and dyed in The Netherlands by a company founded in 1970, still remaining family owned ! They manufacture all their threads in Europe and care about the safety of their employees and the environment.

Each Maison Flore piece is 100% Made in France.

This treasure has been crafted from A to Z in Paris with care by Flore and her local seamstresses in our atelier-boutique located in the Marais district.

Yes, it's french couture baby !

Maison Flore is all about celebrating heritage, roots and Trousseau !

It all started with Marie, Flore's great grand-mother, who was a Trousseau embroiderer in Marseille. In 1901, at the age of 19, she launched her modest "Maison de Broderie" for the inhabitants of her district. She then passed on her know-how to her daughter Berthe, who did the same with her daughter Josiane.

From the old French word "trousser" which meant "to pack", the Trousseau was intended to accompany women in their new life as a young bride. Made up of sustainable and solid bedsheets, household, body linens and many other pieces, all these treasures were collected and hand-embroidered, by women and for women.

Fascinated by this precious family heritage her mother took care to pass on to her, Flore has long dreamed of bringing back to life these outstanding materials and launched Maison Flore to carry on her maternal story.
